About the founder Samantha Wright is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and practices both in southern California and in the DC Metro area. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Dartmouth College and a Master's Degree from the University of San Diego in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is licensed to practice in CA, FL, VA, MD, and DC. Samantha specializes in treating trauma and working with adults and adolescents with disordered eating and body image struggles. Samantha also specializes in treating anxiety, depression, and PTSD, and has years of experience working with immigrant and ex-pat populations. Samantha believes that every client is an individual and thus needs an individualized treatment approach. Therefore, Grounded Roots incorporates culturally sensitive elements of psychodynamic and emotionally focused work as well as utilizing the principles of Intuitive Eating to help individuals discover self-compassion, food freedom, and body appreciation. Samantha’s treatment approach helps clients explore their past and present circumstances or traumas in order to promote increased self-awareness, relief from stress and anxiety, more fulfilling relationships, greater life satisfaction, and improved overall health.
