What Do the Intuitive Eating Quiz Results Mean? |

This quiz is based on one of the three subscales or key factors of Tylka's Intuitive Eating Scale. The three key indicators are: 1. Unconditional Permission to Eat (which this quiz reflects) 2. Eating for Physical Rather than Emotional Reasons 3. Reliance on Hunger/Fullness Cues to eat
Your score indicates your ability to give yourself Unconditional Permission to Eat, which reflects many of the key principles of Intuitive Eating: Making Peace with Food, Challenge the Food Police, Reject the Diet Mentality. The higher your score the better. People with higher scores have better self-esteem, optimism and satisfaction with life.
Tylka's research also indicates that those with higher Intuitive Eating scores have a lower body mass index (a lower body weight). This is a particularly important finding, as critics have expressed concerns that if someone has unconditional permission to eat, it would lead to a higher body weight. Yet, this study confirms previous research findings that show that not only do Intuitive Eaters have healthier weights they have a better sense of well-being, and a lower risk of eating disorders. |
