I'd like to say that I have suffered, and am almost out of, an eating disorder not otherwise specified. I would diet all the time, lost a ton of weight, then would gain a LOT back. I've bounced from 105-145 pounds, and at 5'3" it really hurts my physical being and mental being. I have gone to my nutritionist for agessssss, and what she said seemed appalling at first, eat whatever you want, let yourself go, bla bla bla. I was definitely more than hesitant at the beginning, but after a while it really does make sense. If you think about it , thin people and normal teenagers eat what they want, when they want it. When they want to lose weight they may want to cut back a LITTLE, but overall they eat like this book says, and what my nutritionist has been teliling me for ages. I am not at a content 125 pounds, which, for my structure, is a perfect. It builds confidence and makes your life worth living, especially after an eating disorder. I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!

I'm a Professional Dieter when I'm on a plan and all the variations of the Unconscious Eater when I'm not. My Aha! moment was realizing the cumulative damage that dieting has done, and how emotionally dependent I am on Atkins--but I always, always gain weight back! I eat to numb myself from stress and pain that comes out in other forms anyway. This method seems reasonable and I will give it a try.

I bought the book last week and have been using the tools to be free from obsessing over food. A couple of nights before getting the book I had one of the most terrifying nightmares I've ever had in my life. At that time I was wanting to 'go back on phase one of southbeach. It wasn't happening. I felt out of control in so many things. Anyway, my daughter suggest that I buy the book and I have. I knew that this was my key out of something that had control over my moods, my whole being. I'm optimistic, AND have been doing better that I thought.

I am just reading the book and am already having some success. What I can see as the biggest advantage so far is just feeling more relaxed about and around food. It is not my enemy! And I am not a lesser person for being overweight.

I realized after my last attempt that I was so sick of dieting and the obsession it made me have for food. Can't believe how out of touch with myself I am and hope the book will help me get back in touch.

Months ago my nutritionist suggested I pick up this book. I have hesitated and conveniently forgotten to buy it time and time again. Upon reading everyone's positive feedback, I feel more secure taking on this final step. As a recovering anorexic, I often find myself trying to find all the answers on my own and/or through the assistance of my counselor; while aiming to avoid any more thought directed at food. From what I have read, this book aids in calming those obsessions, as opposed to encouraging them. Here's to having confidence in myself to utilize this book to its fullest extent. I look forward to the first page. Thanks.

I've been anorexic and bulimic and generally had an ed for years and it's pretty sad since I'm only 18 and since I was 15 I struggle with body image. And now I realised there can't be a better way than intuitive eating to control my life and feeling and listen to my body.

Well I just ordered this in cd and I am very excited about it. I have been doing Weight Watchers for over a year and started out very good, but did honestly feel like I was on a diet and after awhile, got tired of doing it and the rest is history. Started gaining my weight back and I don't want that to happen. A friend's Health Matters coach told her about this book and she passed on to me. After looking at the website, I decided to order too.

I just finished the 4 CD's and I can't tell you how excited and free I feel after practicing the principles over the past few weeks. I am SO SICK of dieting and I have begun feeling hunger and fullness for the first time in years. I am also feeling satisfaction with my meals so that I'm not hunting in the fridge even though I'm not hungry. Thank you Thank you Thank you!!! Any weight loss (I have already lost some but am trying to avoid the scale) will be a bonus to the incredibly freeing feeling i now have that my body knows what to eat and when and that I can wait to hear it if I only listen.

Hi, I'm planning to buy the book...I am actually seeing a therapist for an eating disorder that's plagued me off and on for about 15 years now (I'm 29), and she has mentioned intuitive eating several times, so I decided to google it and found your site. I am excited by what I'm seeing on here and am hopeful that years of bingeing/purging/restricting/body-loathing will end with time and employing these principles. It actually sounds like what I was doing when I was pregnant with my first son...I was just listening to my body and eating what it told me to eat--which was generally a very balanced diet with lots of natural foods. I only gained 26 lbs.--which was surprising to me since I was eating exactly what I wanted. If only I could have continued on that path!! It is going to be incredibly difficult to not count calories, but I'm going to make a concerted effort to ignore the caloric content. Thank you.
