I too wanted to thank you ladies for this extraordinary book. My weight has fluctuated dramatically since I was a child. I have gone through just about every diet that's out there - weight watchers, atkins, jenny craig, etc. Amazingly, I would never have considered myself a "dieter." But, of course, that's exactly what I am. Since moving to a new city, I have put on some weight. I was talking to my counselor from home about this, and she recommended Intuitive Eating. One word comes to mind when I think of this book: FREEDOM. It feels so natural and organic. It makes you want to hit yourself over the head and say "no duh!" I am vehemently opposed to the scale, so I can't give any numbers, but I know I've lost weight. More importantly, though, I FEEL great. It definitely takes time to get used to, but I truly feel like my life has drastically changed because of this book. If your considering embarking on this journey, DO IT!

I am a super fit, but slightly overweight individual, who didn't realise (or did I?) the mental toll the process of eating for weightloss and obsessive exercise for weight loss has had on my life. In desperation I have read your book three times in three weeks. Because I believe in what you have written, because I need to believe. I am a chronic dieter, a chronic overeater and a chronic over-exerciserer. I now realise that sometimes I eat until it physically hurts. I am learning to feel my hunger and fullness and to enjoy exercise for the energy it gives me. This is still a challenge. I have gained weight, which is tough to bear but I don't hate myself like I usually would. Because I understand that this is a journey. I am hoping that this works, because I just cannot diet anymore.

Hi owe you my eternal gratitude; I just can't tell you how much this book has changed my life for the better. I have a history of both anorexia and binge eating. Your book is the one thing that has set me free from the unhappiness of destructive eating habits. I hope those with similar history will continute to discover Intuitive Eating and benefit from it as much as I have. I have truly never felt better in both my body and my mind. Many, many thanks.

I am a Registered Dietitian and I have recently listened to the audio CD of Intuitive Eating during my long commutes to work. It reminds me a lot of Ellyn Satter's work, and makes perfect sense. I am struggling with fitting this concept in while working with clients on very low calorie diets, as it's completely oppositie from this style of thinking. I would like to use the concept of Intuitive Eating where I work, which would require me to abandon original program's foundation. This feels more comfortable and organic, and I hope that I can make it work with my struggling clients. Thank you for reminding me of what's right.

Just wanted to say this is a great website. If people can change their perspective on food, they may be able to lift the obsession and find their way to a healthier lifestyle, both mentally and physically. Thanks for all the motivation and tips on this site!

I am savory your book, reading a bit every morning. Every truth I've always known is affirmed in those pages. I am gaining the courage to legalized all food after years of bulimia and all it's phases. Yesterday I was amazed that true satisfaction occurred without having to finish off the "whole thing". I am excited about finding my natural weight, and am committed to do it without dieting. Yeah

I have been using this approach which I have been calling "Mindful Eating" for 5 weeks and my life has been totaling transformed. Starting with food liberation, then getting physical, and now in touch with my own spirit, I have found new joy in living unburdened by the diet mentality. No more gastric upsets, or self loathing after overeating. Now, I can focus on living happily and serenly in my own imperfect life.

I would have swore that my husband wrote this book; he's been telling me for years, eat when your hungry until your full there's plenty of food in the house. I can't beleve I honestly thought that dieting was the only real answer!! I picked this book up this past Friday and I have almost the entire book. The day I started reading it, I was sure that I would let go of my diet mentality but I can honestly say, I have been eating because it's what I want to eat not what I can have! It's amazing how full you can get what you listen and slow yourself down. I have already told 5 people about this book because we are ALL a diet mentality. This will change my life!

This website really gave me some kind of hope that I was searching for. I hope to buy the book soon and maybe begin to understand the reasons why I am bulimic and how I can start to recover from my obsession with food and body image. Thank you.
